My story-

My passion for birth work is lifelong but I was called into action after the medically complicated pregnancy and traumatic birth of our first child. Our experience left me feeling confused, angry, broken, robbed and like a failure.

I have since worked tirelessly to not only repair my relationship with myself and body, but to educate myself on the wonders of this field and dedicate my life making sure others don’t go through the same experience.

My second experience was the polar opposite of my first.

The very first thing I did was hire a kick-ass doula that I knew would help keep me grounded in times of stress and advocate for me if I wasn’t being heard.

I explored many birth facility options, interviewed multiple providers, battled against insurance road blocks. I took an active role in my own care. I reclaimed my body, my experience, my birth.

I have now personally experienced an intense, traumatic, 5-day-long induction and a beautiful, healing, accidentally-unassisted birth at home (how’s that for a punchline?).
